Why this site has no server

My last website ran on a small virtual machine that I paid for monthly. It had a database for two blog posts. When I stopped paying, in a month I was moving house and forgot, it was gone in a week, and with it every link anyone had ever made to my work.

This site is a folder. It has six pictures, two notes, a stylesheet and two font files, and nothing else — no scripts, no analytics, no comments, nothing that phones home. It was paid for once, and it is stored in a place that was built to keep it for a couple of hundred years.

I like that the same address will work when I'm old. I like more that it will work when I'm not paying attention.
